Reading this website is free and always will be. This policy concerns the printed magazine, which is posted to subscribers, and printed books ordered from us.
How a subscription is taken
Subscriptions are arranged offline. Telephone or message us with your name, full postal address with PIN code, and the term you want. We confirm the amount; you pay by UPI or bank transfer; we enter you in the subscriber register and post each quarterly edition as it is printed. No payment is taken on this website.
When copies are posted
The magazine is quarterly. Your first copy is the next edition printed after your subscription is recorded. Copies are dispatched by post within fifteen days of an edition leaving the press, and ordinarily reach addresses in India within seven to fifteen days after that.
Books
Printed books are dispatched within five to seven working days of payment being confirmed. Postage is charged at actual cost and is told to you before you pay.
If a copy does not arrive, or arrives damaged
Tell us within thirty days of the expected delivery date and we will post a replacement free of charge. For a damaged copy, a photograph helps. This is the quickest remedy and we would rather replace a copy than refund it.
Cancellation and refunds
- Before the first copy is posted — cancel for any reason and we refund in full.
- Part-way through a term — we refund the amount corresponding to the editions not yet posted. Editions already sent are not refundable.
- Life and patron subscriptions — refundable in full within thirty days of payment if no copy has yet been sent; after that they are not refundable, as the amount is treated as support for the magazine.
- Books — a book that arrives damaged, incomplete or incorrect is replaced or refunded in full, including postage, if you tell us within seven days of delivery. We cannot accept the return of a book simply because it was not to your taste.
Approved refunds are made by the same route the payment came in — normally UPI or bank transfer — within ten working days of our agreeing them.
Change of address
Tell us at least one month before an edition is due, otherwise the copy may already have been addressed and posted.
Donations
Donations are voluntary and are not refundable. If you donated in error, write to us within seven days and we will do what we reasonably can.
